Akers has helped lead the US Women's Soccer Team to two World Cup titles
and an Olympic Gold Medal. Michelle, however, suffers from CIFDS, a
disease that renders her almost paralyzed with chronic pain and sickness.
Described as "having the flu 24/7," CIFIDS was a huge hurdle
for Michelle to deal with during her soccer career. This is the story
of her battle agaist the odds to become one of the most talented women
to ever play the game. It aired in 2002 on national Television in Holland.
